Welcome to Florida Agri-Women!
We are happy that you are interested in learning more about Florida Agri-Women. This website is currently under construction, so please return for regular updates on our events planned for 2008 - 2009.
Who We Are:
FAW was founded by Katie Edwards of Plantation and Sarah Joe Cannon of Dunnellon. On August 2, 2003, eight women from across the state gathered in Gainesville to adopt bylaws and charter FAW as a state affiliate of American Agri-Women.
Recognizing the need to involve women in legislative efforts, FAW strives to keep its members informed on the myriad issues facing Florida agriculture. This goal is accomplished through the monthly newsletter, The Florida Agri-Woman, and action alerts by e-mail and fax.
FAW supports agriculture by sponsoring a scholarship for women majoring in agricultural fields, participating in fundraisers to support agricultural beneficiaries, and hosting an annual meeting featuring educational seminars on timely agricultural topics. FAW honors an influential woman in agriculture at the Founder’s Day Dinner held in conjunction with the annual meeting by presenting her with the Founder’s Award, which recognizes her active involvement in the promotion of Florida agriculture.
FAW also provides valuable networking opportunities and promotes friendship among its members. More than just a professional organization, FAW provides a true sense of belonging to its members. |
