Farm Credit/Florida Agri-Women to Honor Ann Holt |

HOMESTEAD, FL- Florida Agri-Women (FAW), the state affiliate of American Agri-Women, has selected Ann Holt of Western Palm Beach County to receive the Founder’s Award for 2009. The award will be presented during the Founder’s Dinner at FAW’s 6th annual meeting August 15th, at the Embassy Suites Hotel, Lake Buena Vista Resort, Orlando, Florida. The award is being sponsored by Farm Credit and FAW. A native Floridian, Holt has been a tireless advocate of the Florida Sweet Corn Industry and Florida Agriculture. For over 40 years Holt has helped manage the family farm. She was the first woman ever elected to the board of directors of the Western Palm Beach County Farm Bureau and the first woman ever elected President. In 2007 she was responsible for initiating the first Annual Farm City Week Luncheon in Palm Beach County. Since 1999 Holt has been a member of the Agriculture Committee of the South Florida Fair. She promotes the Florida Sweet Corn Industry at the South Florida Fair, the Produce Marketing Association Annual Meeting (PMA), the Delray Affair and the Sweet Corn Fiesta. An avid educator in agriculture, Holt is a sponsor and supporter of the annual Palm Beach County Farm Safety Camp. She also actively participates in Ag Literacy Week, promoting Florida Agriculture in the Classroom.
